Components are the parts on your bike — chain, cassette, tires, brake
pads, bar tape, bearings, sealant, and so on. Tracking them lets us
warn you before they wear out.
Steps
The Add flow is a short 3-step wizard: pick how you're adding it
(quick install, full details, bulk paste), pick the type, then fill
in the form.
- Go to Components, or open a bike's detail page.
- Click Add Component.
- Pick a path on the first screen:
- Quick install — minimal fields, get it tracked fast.
- Full details — everything below.
- Bulk paste — paste a list (e.g. from a Strava export or
retailer order) and we'll parse it into multiple components in
one go.
- Choose a category (Drivetrain, Wheels & Tires, Brakes, etc.)
then a type (Chain, Cassette, Tires, Brake Pads, …). - Fill in the details:
- Component name — required. A short label you'll recognise
(e.g. "Front tire", "Chain #2"). - Brand — Shimano, SRAM, Continental, etc.
- Model — specific model name or number.
- Bike — which bike this is installed on (if installed).
- Status — Installed, In Storage, Wishlist, or Retired.
- Install date — when you fitted it (for installed
components). - Initial distance (km / mi) — carry-over distance: the wear
this component already has before you started tracking
(typically 0 for new components, but useful for parts you're
adding mid-life). - Expected lifespan (optional) — total distance you expect
the component to last; powers the wear progress bar.
- Component name — required. A short label you'll recognise
- Set a service interval
(optional but recommended). - Save.
What should I track?
Anything that wears out or needs maintenance.
High-wear items — chain, cassette, chainrings, tires, brake pads,
cables.
Periodic maintenance — bar tape, hub bearings, bottom bracket
bearings, suspension oil changes, tubeless sealant, derailleur
pulleys.
If this is your first time, start with chain, cassette, and tires.
You can add more once the system feels familiar.
