Your data is yours. There are two ways to take it out of WatchMy.bike:
a JSON export of your whole account, included on every plan, and
Excel workbooks per bike or for all bikes at once, on Alloy and Carbon.
JSON export — every plan
Where: Settings → Account → Export Your Data → Download JSON Export.
You get one file, watchmybike-export-YYYY-MM-DD.json, containing:
- Your profile and preferences (units, currency, timezone)
- Your Strava connection status (athlete id, connected date)
- Every bike, with its photos and every component ever installed on it,
including install and removal dates, distance, expected lifespan,
purchase price and notes - Standalone components (parts on the shelf, not on a bike)
- Your notifications
Not included: uploaded documents (download those from the bike or
component they belong to), service records and service intervals, and
ride activities, which live on Strava.
The JSON is meant as a backup and as a way to move your data elsewhere.
It is not something to open in a spreadsheet; use the Excel export for that.
Excel export — Alloy and Carbon
Two entry points, same workbook layout:
- One bike: open the bike, then the download icon (Export to Excel) in
the bike header. File:watchmybike-<bike-name>-YYYY-MM-DD.xlsx, one sheet. - All bikes: Settings → Account → Export Your Data → Download Excel
workbook. File:watchmybike-bikes-YYYY-MM-DD.xlsx, one sheet per bike,
named after the bike.
Each sheet starts with the bike: name, brand, model, year, type, status,
purchase date and purchase price. Below that, one row per currently
installed component with these columns:

Distances are always in kilometres in the workbook, whatever your display
units. Prices are in your account currency, unformatted numbers, so you can
sum them.
On the free Steel plan the Excel buttons show an upgrade prompt instead of
downloading. The JSON export works on Steel too, so nothing is locked in.

What you can't export yet
- Photos are referenced by URL in the JSON, not bundled as files.
- The AI assistant and the MCP tools can tell you how to export, but they
cannot generate the file for you. Use the buttons above.
If you cancel
Export first, then cancel. Your data stays available on the free plan and the
JSON export keeps working there; only the Excel buttons need Alloy.
